For my web adventure project, I decided to create a small multi-choice game based on a recent popular trend from TikTok. The trend, known as “Dabloons”, began with a Tiktok of an image of a cat holding up four “toe beans” (toes) captioned “4 Dabloons”. Every time people saw the image on their For You Page, they collected these Dabloons as currency. Soon after, people expanded on the trend by changing the amount of Dabloons offered per scenario encountered, and created their own Dabloon shops and characters, resulting in a huge community similar to a DND campaign. With this inspiration in mind, I developed three characters for players to choose from; a Mage, a Baker, and an adventurer. The goal? Becoming a Dabloon-millionaire! Based on choices made in the game, the player could lose all their Dabloons or accomplish becoming a millionaire. Players must determine who they can trust to keep their business afloat. In the world of “Dabloonia”, the economic crisis has been steadily rising, and by becoming a Dabloon-millionaire, Horchata the Baker could continuously fund and expand her bakery, supporting her mother and siblings. Valente the Adventurer could restore stolen treasures from their home village. Last but not least, Lucius could prove himself as a powerful mage in magic university, further broadening the field of lunar magic under the guidance of demi-god, Lady Luna. Although simplified in choice currently, I believe that the connection between recent trends and the cute cat-themed style would encourage others to develop their own scenarios and have fun designing characters like these.
